With a population of just under 30,000, West Lafayette is a diverse and thriving city. Home to Purdue University, West Lafayette is an hour from Indianapolis, one and a half hours from Bloomington, and two hours from Chicago. Shopping and Dining
The West Lafayette and Lafayette area comprises of three eclectic districts with more than 70 shops, Chauncey Village, Wabash Riverfront, and Arts & Market District. Chauncey Village and Chauncey Hill Mall on Purdue’s campus has 40 stores and restaurants. Other shopping centers include International Square, Lafayette Market Place, Market Square Shopping Center, Lafayette Pavilions, Lafayette Station Plaza, and Levee Plaza. Tippecanoe Mall has more than 100 stores and is the area’s largest shopping center. As a university town that attracts people from all over the world, there are countless options for great dining. Local favorites include Thai Essence, Maru Sushi, Basi Thai, Fiesta Mexican Grill, Bruno’s, 9 Irish Brother, Triple XXX (old-drive in), Christo’s New City Grill, and Spurlock’s.

Parks and Recreation
West Lafayette is home to Celery Bog Nature Area, which has close to 200 acres and Lilly Nature Center; Happy Hollow Park, which has more than 80 acres; Cumberland Park, which has more than 60 acres; and Tapawingo Park, which has more than 20 acres and Riverside Skating Center. In addition, community activity and educational programs are offered at Morton Community Center and the Municipal Pool. Global Fest is an annual festival celebrating the city’s diversity. Sagamore West Farmers Market brings area residents to shop for fresh and local produce. Nearby Prophetstown State Park is the site of wetlands and Historic Prophetstown, which includes the Wabash Valley Farmstead and Woodland Native American Village. Tippecanoe Battlefield Park is the site of the Battle of Tippecanoe in 1811. The Art Museum of Greater Lafayette’s permanent collection includes Indiana artists and 19th and 20th century American art.

Living
West Lafayette real estate is affordable in beautiful, friendly neighborhoods, including Amberleigh Village, Arbor Chase, Avondale, Barbarry Heights, Happy Hollow, Lauren Lakes, Plaza Park, Prophet’s Ridge, Villas at Stonebridge, Wabash Shores, and Westport. The Hills & Dales neighborhood is an established community near campus that has older homes for sale from 200k to 700k. University Farms real estate includes new, custom-built construct from 150k to 600k. West Lafayette offers newer homes as well. The NW Heights neighborhood includes both traditional and modern homes for sale. The historic district of West Lafayette is the New Chauncey neighborhood, which is above the banks of the Wabash and close to Purdue.

Schools, Health, Transportation
West Lafayette is served by West Lafayette Community School Corporation, a Four Star School, and includes Cumberland Elementary, Happy Hollow Elementary, and West Lafayette Junior/Senior High School. West Lafayette schools have earned excellent GreatSchools ratings and are first in the state for college preparation and a high graduation rate. St. Clare Medical Center, St. Vincent Health, and Hoopestown Regional Health Center support the area. CityBus of Greater Lafayette provides public transportation. There are two airports: Purdue University Airport (for non-commercial flights) and Indianapolis International Airport. Interstate 65 and Highways 26 and 52 are the area’s major roads.
